Personalised learning that helps students excel.
A Cambridgeshire LA approved Stage 3 Alternative Provision for children in KS2 - KS4. I have over 20 years experience in working with young people from all walks of life!
I support students in school, at home, in community spaces and coffee shops. The priority is always on what will work best for the student and an understanding that needs change so therefore how I work may need to change too.
I offer flexible scheduling that is tailored to your needs, subject to availability. Whether you need help during school, after school, weekends, or even the school holidays, I am here to help you!
I've helped a lot of students over the years, see below for some of my more recent success stories.
I support students working within KS1 - 4 in addition to Entry Level and Functional Skills qualifications. In addition to this, I support students in developing life skills, considering future options and supporting them with other services to enable them to succeed.
I also take students on educational visits when appropriate.
The student struggled with anxiety and had other learning needs. I was asked to teach her art as she enjoyed drawing. Over the weeks I worked with her, her engagement increased dramatically. She greatly enjoyed the sessions as she was introduced to different media and artists. She then took the time to explore this in her own time before she successfully reintegrated back into school.
I originally began working with this student when he was fourteen and had completely disengaged from school. He had complex SEMH and SEND, requiring a careful approach. Over the years working with me and liaising with his school, he grew in confidence, being able to relate to people well and articulate his strengths. He learnt to read and became more proficient in maths. He was provided many trip opportunities and I also supported him in getting his provisional licence. Finally, I also supported him with a job coach and by the time I completed my work with him he had got a full time job.
This student required further maths support and had also recently suffered a bereavement. I was able to quickly establish a good relationship with him, teaching maths in a fun, engaging way as well as taking an interest in his hobbies. He and his mother really appreciated my work which finished when he moved to a new area.
This LAC student had been refusing to attend school. I was tasked with re-engaging him in education. Over the weeks he was delighted to be getting a 'proper education' (his words). I also supported this student with communicating his wishes and feelings for a new school and continued to support him until he started there.
He had stopped attending school, having significant SEMH needs. I was successful in re-engaging him in learning as well as supporting the school and family in understanding his perception of himself.
I supported this student for over two years being one of only a few professionals who could engage him on any level. This engagement took a great deal of creativity, flexibility and perseverance on my part! I also closely communicated with his school and the YOT, who were grateful for my excellent communication. This student really appreciated my work and at the end of my time working with him he gave me one of the most heartfelt thank you messages I've ever had.
